Counting down from 56lbs
Hello,
Well, it’s my first post in this blog - if it all goes well, I can have something to look back on that chronicles my achievement.
I’ve had some up and downs with my weight over the years. My lowest weight was 120lbs, my heighest 211lbs. From 211lbs I’ve managed to lose around 41lbs and keep it off for about 3 years, maintaining a weight of 165-170lbs at 5′3″ (which is still overweight, but better than before).
Recently I’ve gained a little over 5lbs, just by paying less attention to how much I’m eating - current weight 176lbs. I’ve decided it’s about time I lost that, plus the rest - with an overall goal weight of 120lbs. I have a midterm goal of 140lbs by the 1 April 2009 (about the same time I have my orthodontic braces removed).
So, 36lbs in 6 months, or 6lbs per month for my midterm goal. According to the weight loss calculator I use - http://www.freedieting.com/tools/weight_loss_tools.htm - I would need 1936 calories (before exercise) to maintain my current weight. To lose 36lbs by 1 April 2009 I need to reduce this amount by 700 calories per day - 1236 calories (before exercise).
I currently exercise 1000 calories per week or 142 per day (on average) so I need to increase how much I eat by this amount - 1378 calories.
I want one takeaway meal per week (on Sunday) and I need to take the extra calories into account. I have decided to add an extra 510 calories to that day and remove it from the other six days. So, Mon-Sat 1293 calories, Sun 1888 calories.
I like numbers…
I’m also trying to improve my eating through this journey. I’m going to give myself one goal - at the moment it’s 5 fruit and/or vegetables daily. When I achieve that for 14 days, I’m going to move on to the next goal. I’m 3 1/2 servings in today.
Till next time,
Anita

What do you mean IF it all goes well? You should have wrote, WHEN I hit goal, I can ready back through all of this. LOL! It sounds like you have a great plan in place and you will do fine. I’m on a kick right now with reminding people that the longest journey begins with the first step. Here is to your first step!
Denise - thanks for the encouragement, it means a lot
We do have similar weights etc! I think it’s even harder to be overweight when you’re a shortie because every pound makes such a difference. Good luck on your journey
Harleygirl - lol! I wrote if it all goes well because of my past history with weight loss - I guess I should be more positive about it and say when
:) Cheers for the reply!
