9 Days In, 5lbs lost

Thought it was about time for an update.

I currently weigh 171lbs.  Yay!  It’s a pretty good weight loss for a little over a week.  I’m guessing it will slow down now though… time will tell.

My fruit and vegetable goal is coming along nicely - 6/14 days as of 6 October.

Planning for success?

I’m back down to 173lbs today :)

For my fruit and vegetable goal - I’m 4/14 days complete now.  Slowly getting there.

I’ve designed the goals based on a healthy eating book I bought not long ago.  I usually stay away from buying diet books and things because I get ’suckered in’ too easily (see: buying hoodia lol).  BUT this one seemed ok, and it was the colon and liver cleanse info I was particularly interested in.

Anyway, I’ve decided once I achieve 14 days of a goal (doesn’t have to be all in a row, but as few days missed as possible), then I’ll add a second and so on.  My goals are:

  • 5 fruit and vegetables daily
  • 6 cups water daily
  • 1 takeaway meal per week only/daily good carbohydrate serving
  • 1 good fat serving daily
  • 20-30% daily calories should be from protein
  • 25gms fiber daily
  • Elimate most processed foods/artificial sweetners
  • Regular colon/liver cleanse
  • Start taking aloe vera juice, digestive enzymes, pre/probiotics

Whew, made it!

Hello :)

It’s a couple of days after my birthday and after losing 3lbs (I was 173lbs the morning of the 30 September) I’m happy to say I only gained one pound (174lbs when I weighed this morning).

I took measurements and a before photo.  Measurements: Bust - 41 1/2″, Waist - 34″, Hip - 41 1/2″.  I calulated my waist to hip ratio (should be under 0.8, mine is exactly 0.8).  I also calculated my body fat percentage (estimate only) (should be under 22%, mine is 29%).

So… there’s some work to be done ;).

As far as my other goal (fruit & vegetables) is concerned: 29 September - 5 servings achieved, 30 September - 5 servings achieved.  Didn’t reach my goal yesterday.  I’m 1 serving in today.  So, it’s 2/14 days achieved so far.

Counting down from 56lbs

Hello,

Well, it’s my first post in this blog - if it all goes well, I can have something to look back on that chronicles my achievement.

I’ve had some up and downs with my weight over the years.  My lowest weight was 120lbs, my heighest 211lbs.  From 211lbs I’ve managed to lose around 41lbs and keep it off for about 3 years, maintaining a weight of 165-170lbs at 5′3″ (which is still overweight, but better than before).

Recently I’ve gained a little over 5lbs, just by paying less attention to how much I’m eating - current weight 176lbs.  I’ve decided it’s about time I lost that, plus the rest - with an overall goal weight of 120lbs.  I have a midterm goal of 140lbs by the 1 April 2009 (about the same time I have my orthodontic braces removed).

So, 36lbs in 6 months, or 6lbs per month for my midterm goal.  According to the weight loss calculator I use - http://www.freedieting.com/tools/weight_loss_tools.htm - I would need 1936 calories (before exercise) to maintain my current weight.  To lose 36lbs by 1 April 2009 I need to reduce this amount by 700 calories per day - 1236 calories (before exercise).

I currently exercise 1000 calories per week or 142 per day (on average) so I need to increase how much I eat by this amount - 1378 calories.

I want one takeaway meal per week (on Sunday) and I need to take the extra calories into account.  I have decided to add an extra 510 calories to that day and remove it from the other six days.  So, Mon-Sat 1293 calories, Sun 1888 calories.

I like numbers… :)

I’m also trying to improve my eating through this journey.  I’m going to give myself one goal - at the moment it’s 5 fruit and/or vegetables daily.  When I achieve that for 14 days, I’m going to move on to the next goal.  I’m 3 1/2 servings in today.

Till next time,

Anita
